About us
J. & L. Lobmeyr was founded in Vienna in 1823 by Joseph Lobmeyr—exactly 200 years ago. We quickly became purveyor to the Imperial Court. A love of the material, an emotional relationship to the product, and personal commitment has defined each generation. Lobmeyr glasses are still blown, cut, engraved, and polished entirely by hand. All of our lighting products are manufactured at our atelier workshops in the heart of Vienna. The Lobmeyr company focuses on a contemporary interpretation of glass and light, and never stops cultivating its heritage. The old inspires the new, and traditional knowledge facilitates innovation. Together with designers like Josef Hoffmann and Adolf Loos in the past, and today Ted Muehling, formafantasma, and Michael Anastassiades among others, we create fine handmade crystal and chandeliers that are appreciated by connoisseurs all over the world.

@lobmeyr
The combination of fine art and fine glassware came to be in Vienna during the 17th century. Wine glasses and decanters were hand-painted with ornate flowers and scenes– becoming one of the most sought-after personal luxuries.
When @lobmeyr was founded at the height of Vienna’s glass artistry in 1823, master glassblowers and painters came together to create hand-painted glassware that beyond function, were considered works of art.
Super-fine crystal glasses were embellished with a single image, referencing nature or humanity in the trompe l`oeil fashion. Modern artists such as @tedmuehling created works of art for Lobmeyr, including the Balloon Glass Tumbler that we proudly stock at @gohar.world 👁️
Tomorrow until Monday, we are presenting our brand-new hand-painted collaboration with Lobmeyr at the Jardin des Tuileries in Paris. View it exclusively at @matterandshape.

To celebrate @lobmeyr’s 100-year anniversary at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the Viennese atelier partnered with Gohar World to design a glassware installation at @matterandshape.

Sugar, like glass, can be melted, blown, and molded into shape. Gohar World designs a structure of large-scale sugar cubes to serve as pedestals for Lobmeyr’s archival collection. The installation also debuts the hand-painted Alpha Bow glassware set – a newly-launched collaboration between the two brands.
Visit us at MATTER and SHAPE (2025) from March 7–10 at the Jardin des Tuileries. Not in Paris? The Alpha Bow glassware collaboration is available to shop online at @gohar.world, worldwide.

A first look at @indiamahdavi Project Room N°18, Another Grammar of Ornament curated by @danthawley as a part of @matterandshape’s (hors les murs) programme for 2025.
The exhibition provokes an unexpected discourse between the 19th and 21st centuries through the subject of ornament, drawing from Owen Jones’ canonical The Grammar of Ornament (1856) and Thomas Weil’s contemporary response, New Grammar of Ornament (2021). In a nod to the chapters of Weil’s book, Another Grammar of Ornament extends beyond the Project Room, engaging with geometric and minimalist ornamentation at n°29 rue de Bellechasse and exploring floral ornamentation inside the Tiny Room, just metres away at n°3 Rue Las Cases.
