The Café Westend is a true treasure of Viennese coffee house culture and impresses visitors with its unmistakable charm. The eventful history of the traditional café near Westbahnhof railway station dates back to 1899. Recently closed for a short time, it is now reopening and will continue to enchant its guests with authentic Viennese flair. Lobmeyr had the pleasure of designing the magnificent chandeliers—which became known as “Westend-Taler”—for Café Westend in the 1950s. The unique mid-century design still exudes the incomparable chic of the era and is one of the most iconic chandelier designs to emerge from the era. Each chandelier is handcrafted and fitted with exquisite hand-cut crystal drops. Along with a Vienna “melange” and daily newspaper, our chandeliers are an important part of the perfect coffee house atmosphere.
