The hotel needed a chandelier that is both emblematic of the building and closely linked to the city. An important base during the 1998 Winter Olympics, the hotel housed the International Olympic Committee. The Nagano city coat of arms features a lotus blossom, which was chosen as the theme of the chandelier design: The outline of the lower crown is in the shape of a five-petalled lotus blossom. The high ceilings of the hotel lobby called for a sleek silhouette, so we chose three cascading chandelier elements to decorate the three-storey space.
