Haile Selassie, Ethiopian nobleman, rose to be the Emperor of Ethiopia and is a defining figure in the modern history of the nation. He is particularly well-known as the key figure of the Jamaican Rastafari movement. Selassie’s work laid the foundation for the modern nation of Ethiopia. In 1930, he was crowned “King of Kings”, with all the pomp and circumstance that accompanies such a grand occasion, including the construction of a palace with a vast array of amenities. The luxury decor included three chandeliers and 16 sconces specially designed for the throne room in collaboration with the May furniture store.
