Over its 900-year history, Klosterneuburg Abbey has continually combined the secular and the spiritual in unique ways. The abbey was once the seat of the Babenbergs and Habsburgs, and there were even plans to expand it into the imperial residence under Charles VI. Today, the monastery is not only known as a place of worship, but also for its arts and cultural events and even—as Austria’s oldest winery—for its wines. Throughout the centuries the Lobmeyr company has played an important role in the decoration and renovations of the historic building. Since 1957, our baroque chandeliers can be found in the imperial rooms, the treasury, and the Reinprechtspölla Chapel.
