Mark Braun (*1975) is a German industrial designer based in Berlin.
The collaboration with Mark Braun is a prime example of a successful VIENNADESIGN WEEK initiative.
As part of Passionswege 2010, carafes filled with water from seven Austrian rivers, lakes, and glaciers—each carafe engraved with topographical images of the source—were ceremoniously presented at the Lobmeyr store on Kärntner Strasse. The project, named Fortune, was designed to celebrate the immense value of our simplest yet most important resource.
An international edition that evolved from this was shown at notable galleries including S. Bensimon in Paris and Libby Sellers in London. A matching drinking glass series was also created, and soon an exclusive variation adorned with a gold dot could be found in the Dior Home collection.
Mark Braun enjoys bringing interesting clients into his collaborations, such as the Stählemühle distillery or Monkey47 gin, and the result is always distinct and sustainable design.
After training as a carpenter, he studied industrial design at the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, the Design Academy Eindhoven, and the Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle from 2000 to 2006.
After completing his studies, Braun founded his own design studio in Berlin, a company that stands for excellence in industrially manufactured products, accessories, furniture, and lighting. His products have received the IF Award, Red Dot, German Design Award, and many others. He has also taught apprenticing programmes for years and became professor of industrial design at HBK Saar in 2015.
