Ludwig Lobmeyr was not only a successful entrepreneur and designer, but also sponsored a variety of different Viennese cultural institutions over the course of his life—including the Museum of Art and Industry (today the MAK Museum of Applied Arts) and the Musikverein. He was also a liberal member of parliament. The Municipal Council Committee for Culture passed a resolution naming a street after him on 5 January 1927—ten years after his death. Lobmeyrgasse is located in the Ottakring district and runs along Congress Park, which was built at the same time.
