The Gründerzeit Highlight by Theophil Hansen

The late 19th century saw one of the most creative periods in Lobmeyr’s chandelier development. Typical elements from Baroque or Hellenistic period combined with a new understanding of aesthetic and elegance shaped the typical style of the Ringstrassen-period. Theophil Hansen was an early champion of this movement and one our most influential designers.

Hansen was not only the most influential designer of his epoch for Lobmeyr. He was also a close personal friend with Ludwig Lobmeyr. So as a token of gratitude he designed Ludwig’s private home and the two greatly inspired each other.
