Hubmann&Vass

Hubmann & Vass are a Viennese architecture firm made up of Erich Hubmann (*1961 in Dobl, Styria) and Andreas Vass (*1961 in Vienna).

They also created an extension to the San Michele cemetery in Venice, and in 2011 realized their winning project for the exterior of the Castello di Rivoli near Turin, to name just a few of their most notable projects. For Lobmeyr, Hubmann & Vass often remodel parts of the flagship store on Kärntnerstraße, design trade fair stands, and create presentation furniture.

Both studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in the architecture class of Gustav Peichl. Since 1988 the duo have worked together in the fields of design, architecture, urban development, and landscape architecture for public and private clients. In1997, they redesigned the entrance area of the Alhambra in Granada, Spain, one of Europe’s biggest tourist attractions.

As part of their research, they carefully studied the history of Loos’s famous BarSet No. 248, which was presented in the catalogue for “The Glass of the Architects” exhibition in 2016. As a result the Loos Cooler has been reconstructed.
