About us
J. & L. Lobmeyr was founded in Vienna in 1823 by Joseph Lobmeyr—over 200 years ago. We quickly became purveyor to the Imperial Court. A love of the material, an emotional relationship to the product, and personal commitment has defined each generation. Lobmeyr glasses are still blown, cut, engraved, and polished entirely by hand. All of our lighting products are manufactured at our atelier workshops in the heart of Vienna. The Lobmeyr company focuses on a contemporary interpretation of glass and light, and never stops cultivating its heritage. The old inspires the new, and traditional knowledge facilitates innovation. Together with designers like Josef Hoffmann and Adolf Loos in the past, and today Ted Muehling, formafantasma, and Michael Anastassiades among others, we create fine handmade crystal and chandeliers that are appreciated by connoisseurs all over the world.

Fortune carafes for @lobmeyr have been on show at re:start exhibition @modernegalerie. The project had the important role to showcase my personal motivation how to use our powerful discipline to put relevant future topics on stage. The well crafted carafes are engraved with outlines of international lakes, rivers and glaciers to give awareness to the fragility and the value of drinking water.

One hundred years after the 1925 International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, which propelled Art Deco onto the world stage, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs is celebrating this bold, refined, and resolutely modern style. Immersive scenography, sumptuous materials, stylized forms, and exceptional craftsmanship combine to create a lively and sensory journey, where Art Deco unfolds in all its facets.
Lobmeyr won the grand prix in Classe 12 - crystal.
Today, Lobmeyr is known for its delicate muslin glass, which was truly blossoming in 1925. While the extremely thin, groundbreaking Drinking Set No. 4 (Ludwig Lobmeyr, 1854) first inspired Josef Hoffmann and Oskar Strnad, it was primarily Hoffmann’s student Oswald Haerdtl who brought this facet of the material to its peak. His creativity and curiosity still push artisans to surpass their limits today. Thick folders of Haerdtl’s sketches in the Lobmeyr archives testify to the tremendous productivity of the artist up into the 1950s. Some of his classics, such as the Candy Dish, the Ambassador series, and the chandeliers in Café Prückel, have earned a lasting status in the world of Lobmeyr.
